Recently, as I prepared for a new term and new classes, I got completely fed up with the horribly designed templates for Moodle (the content management system I use for all my classes) and started building my own theme from scratch.

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with Moodle. There are many things that I like about it, and so many things that are maddeningly frustrating. But now that I have started understanding the theme system and how to actually create a proper theme for Moodle, I can at least resolve some of the nagging front end design issues and at the very least use nice typography and good spacing to help clarify what is what and the relationships between pieces of content.
